Milestones Achieved

Training and Skill Upgradation Programs

  • Conducted 585 free training programs on “Entrepreneurship and Skil Upgradation to 86500 potential as well as existing women entrepreneurs. These initiatives have helped the women to move from informal business setup to formal business form and created self-confidence. So far, more than 86500 women have participated and benefitted out of our training programs conducted by the Association over offline (direct) and online modes. Organized the following “Business opportunities for Women and Youth” Seminars which have got wide print and visual media coverages.

  • 27 STATE LEVEL SEMINARS
     19 DISTRICT LEVEL TWO DAYS SEMINAR
     11 DISTRICT LEVEL IMPORT AND EXPORT PROGRAM in association with FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisation) Bankers and officials from various State and Central Govt Departments media professionals have participated and made presentations on Schemes of assistances and subsidies available to startups and interacted with the participants. As a result of these initiatives many participants have started their business ventures.
Seminars in Educational Institutions

As a part of our efforts to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship among student community, we have organized the following Seminars :

❖ In association with SIDBI, a Seminar on “EntrepreneurshipAwareness” was conducted for the students of Ethiraj College
for Women, Chennai. This seminar has served as a platformwhere students interacted with experts to discuss issues
faced in identifying the opportunities, marketing andchallenges faced in getting financial assistances from formal
and opportunities.
❖ “Women Entrepreneurial Challenges and Empowerment Summit” in VIT University, Vellore for the final year whereinthe students of MBA and women entrepreneurs from generalpublic have participated. This Summit was used as a part ofthe internal project for Students. Like above, We haveconducted programs in RMK Group of Instituitions, Velankanni Engineering college, Adhi Engineering college, Vidhya College of Engineering , MOB Vaishnava college and  .Ethiraj college

Recognitions

❖ Recognizing the contributions and services rendered by WEWA, the Association was invited by District Industries and Commerce Department (DIC) to participate in the Republic Day Parade as contingent.

Loan fairs

❖ In association with Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) with whom WEWA has entered a MoU, has been hosting several “Loan Melas” where instant loans were sanctioned and disbursed to eligible members who have been trained by the Association. We provide handholding support to the women for preparation of the project reports and also coordinate with banks for consideration of suitable business loans.
“Bankers Meet – 2016” in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
❖ WEWA has conducted the Bankers Meet in 2016 wherein 5 PSU banks have participated and made presentations on various Schemes of assistances available to new entrepreneurs in general and also women specific loan schemes. Around 700 participants have attended the Meet and benefitted. Cultural Extravaganza cum game show

❖ With a view to recognise the support rendered by our sponsors in promoting entrepreneurship and women empowerment, WEWA has organised performance of light music programs by the famous band “Lakshman Shruthi” 4
years in a row.
❖ To recognise the various roles played by women in family as well to the Society in large, WEWA has been celebrating the
“Woman’s Day” every year by hosting various cultural programs for women. Women of all age groups have participated enthusiastically in the events and demonstrated their hidden talents.

WEWA Awards

❖ Every year, WEWA has been presenting four “Best WomenEntrepreneur Awards”, one best ‘Media Person Award’, one
best ‘Social Worker Award’ and one best “Village Farmer Award”.
Health Workshop

❖ WEWA organized Cancer Awareness Camps for women with the theme “Prevention is always better than cure”. In addition, for the well-being of the Members and their families, Yoga workshops & Aerobic classes and refresher courses are also being conducted periodically.
❖ To promote traditional medicinal values, WEWA has arranged for Free Medical Camps were arranged wherein consultations in Homeopathy and Siddha consultation and treatment was given. In addition, yoga therapist and acupressure therapist have also given free consultations and advises to Members and their families.
❖ For providing free legal advice and counselling to members, WEWA has organised free legal guidance programs by reputed advocates.
❖ In association with Apollo Multi-Speciality Hospital, WEWA has organised free “Diabetic Screening Camps” wherein Dieticians have also participated and given advice to members and their families..

WEWA Souvenir – a reference guide for entrepreneurs

❖ Every year WEWA comes out with a Souvenir in connectionwith the “Annual conference cum Business OpportunitiesSeminar”. The souvenir is memorabilia of our activities/services provided which serves as a reference guide forpotential entrepreneurs.
❖ It is step-by-step guide to start a business that containsdetailed information on various schemes of banks and alsoequips the entrepreneurs with valuable information relatedto entrepreneurship, schemes of assistances available toentrepreneurs from various govt agencies and banks. TheSouvenir is widely circulated among the corporates, industryassociations, Banks, Govt Department and print and visualmedia.

WEWA – Women Empowerment Seminars

❖ Conducted Women Empowerment Seminars ; Workshops in19 districts wherein experts have participated and explained on various Central & State Govt schemes, interacted and motivated the participants.

Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO)

❖ Successfully organised Export training in 11 districts inassociation with Federation of Indian Export Organizations(FIEO).

Senior Citizen Programme

❖ This is a unique programme conducted for Senior Citizens (both men and women) wherein health related issues and tips were given by the Govt. Doctors and legal counselling was given by renowned practicing Advocates. This event is being conducted twice in a year.

MOU –With Indian Bank

❖ WEWA has signed a MoU with Indian Bank for three years period for supporting Eligible Women Entrepreneur to start their enterprises without any collateral securities upto Rs. 1 crore which carries 0.5 % below the normal Interest rate.

Mega Entrepreneurship Conference and Work Shop

❖ A Mega Conference named “Singa Pennae” (Lioness) was conducted in 9 districts viz. Chennai, Chegalpattu, Kanchepuram, Thiruvallur, Madurai, Dindugal, Theni, Virudhunagar, Sivagani , Ramnad was conducted successfully wherein experts have made presentations and interacted with participants on Central  State Government Schemes, Franchise Opportunities, Business Opportunities, etc. and conducted Six Skill Training Classes. Various stalls have been provided to Members and entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products and services.
❖ It is proposed to conduct similar events in other Districts of  the state shortly.

ONLINE ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM- DURINGCORONA PANDEMIC- 2020

❖ Due to Pandemic situation from May 2020, WEWA has been conducting various online EDP and skill development programs. Information related Education, Health, Central,  State Government Schemes Business opportunities, Awareness were also provided in these programs.

Government e- Marketing

❖ For the First time in the State, WEWA has arranged for Government e-Marketing Registration Training Conference. Senior Govt. Officials from Govt of India, Delhi have participated and explained to the participants on GEM portal, its benefits and its Registration formalities, etc.

ACHIEVEMENTS
❖ Women fabricators – taking a giant leap 25 fabrication units managed by 51 women entrepreneurs were connected as vendors to BHEL, Ranipet. They were trained intensively in fabrication, AutoCAD, managerial and entrepreneurial skills with the support of
MSME– DI and VIT, Vellore. Many of these vendors had to start from the scratch with no prior experience, exposure and technical background. But they persevered and persisted in their efforts. These women have stormed the male dominated field and emerged in flying colours. This is being appreciated as a land mark achievement for BHEL promoting women empowerment. This is the first women entrepreneur venture in non- conventional areas – Engineering and Fabrication.


Permanent Training Centre in Tailoring & Embroidery


With the support of SmallIndustries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), the Apex financial institution for MSMEs, WEWA has set up a Permanent Training Centre in Tailoring and embroidery in Chennai where women are being provided training on a continuous basis throughout the year.
Dairy Farms
During the Jallikattu protests highlighted the need to preserve native cattle breeds, 110 members have successfully started dairy farms in Kanchipuram districts. WEWA had the foresight to see the benefits and encouraged our members to venture into cattle breeding. The Association always keep pace with time and think ahead of time.
❖ Promoting organic products Cold pressed oil mill is promoted by the Members in Thiruvannamalai. WEWA provide a platform for all stakeholders including producers, retailers and consumers to come together to market organic, indigenous and traditional products like millets, cold-pressed oils, areca nut plates, jute products, handicrafts etc.
❖ Marketing assistance for entrepreneurs WEWA helps its members to market their products by providing stall / space facilities in various forums. It also provide stall facilities very month and mega events are conducted twice a year.


Promoting diversified activities


WEWA has encouraged, trained and providing handholding supports in various fields including Catering, DTP, manufacturing, beauty business, housekeeping, fashion designing, tailoring units, terrace gardening, mushroom cultivation, interior decoration etc.
❖ Committee Member in SLIIC, RBI  TANSTIA WEWA is recognised as a representative of entrepreneurs in the State of
Tamil Nadu and invited as a Member to the above Committee Meetings.
