  • Madurai – The American College: Hosted a regional seminar focusing on grassroots women entrepreneurship and skill development.

  • Anna University, Guindy: Organized an entrepreneurship development seminar in association with students and budding women innovators.

  • Hindustan Engineering College, Coimbatore: Conducted awareness programs on entrepreneurship and business opportunities for women in engineering and technology.

  • DG Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam: Hosted a knowledge-sharing session on financial literacy and startup resources for aspiring women entrepreneurs.

  • Loyola College, Chennai: Venue for the Annual WEWA Conference, bringing together leading entrepreneurs, policymakers, and academics.

  • Sir P.T. Thyagaraya Hall, T. Nagar, Chennai:

    • Hosted the prestigious Annual Awards Ceremony, recognizing outstanding women achievers.

    • Venue for a Major Annual Conference celebrating success stories and discussing future roadmaps for women’s entrepreneurship.

  • Town Hall Meeting with RBI: WEWA organized a town hall discussion in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India, focusing on women’s access to credit, financial inclusion, and banking support systems.

  • Loan Mela – Guindy, Chennai: Facilitated loan assistance and subsidy linkages from State and Central Government schemes, enabling women to secure financing for their business ventures.

  • Export–Import Training Program
    In collaboration with     FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisations), WEWA conducted an intensive Import–Export Orientation Program at SIDCO Hall, Guindy, helping women entrepreneurs explore international markets and export opportunities for their products.

International Women’s Day Celebrations

Every year, WEWA celebrates Women’s Day to honor the spirit of womanhood.
  • A day of fun, relaxation, and recognition, giving members a break from daily routines.
  • Activities include fun games, talent shows, and competitions, followed by prize distribution.
  • Women are encouraged to showcase their talents — be it in art, dance, music, or business ideas.

Pongal Festival (City-Wise Celebrations)

WEWA organizes Pongal celebrations across multiple cities in Tamil Nadu.
  • The festival brings together women from different communities and colleges.
  • Traditional games, music, food, and cultural performances are central to the event, promoting joy and unity.

Lakshman Sruthi Music Program

An annual Lakshman Sruthi musical evening is held to uplift and rejuvenate our members.
  • Renowned artists like Singer Mano and Malgudi Subha have graced our stage.
  • A much-needed break from stressful routines, these events celebrate music, life, and camaraderie.

Diwali & Navaratri Festivities

WEWA members gather to celebrate Diwali and Navaratri together.

Business Exposure Visits

To nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs, WEWA organizes business visits and exposure trips.

WEWA Internal Lottery & Savings Scheme

WEWA runs a voluntary internal savings scheme with 20 active members.

Community Welfare & Public Health Initiatives – WEWA

Health Camps for Women

WEWA regularly organizes free health check-up camps for women, focusing on early detection and preventive care:
  • Blood Pressure (BP) and Sugar level testing
  • Free eye check-up camps in collaboration with reputed clinics
  • Guidance and follow-up referrals to ensure continued care

Cancer Awareness & Screening Drive

A special Cancer Awareness Campaign was launched to promote early detection and health education:
  • Focus on Breast Cancer and Uterine Health
  • Free screening and testing facilities offered to women across age groups
  • Sessions by medical experts to raise awareness on symptoms, prevention, and treatment options

Senior Citizens’ Wellness Program

WEWA values the health and dignity of our elderly members through this dedicated program:
  • BP monitoring and medical counseling
  • Physical wellness guidance including light exercises and mental health support
  • Group interaction and bonding sessions for social well-being

Thanneer Pandhal – Summer Refreshment Stall

During the peak summer season, WEWA sets up traditional refreshment stalls (Thanneer Pandhal) in public areas:
  • Distribution of clean drinking water, watermelon, and buttermilk
  • Continuously operated throughout summer to help passersby beat the heat
  • A gesture of compassion and community care

Multi-Sector Job Fair

WEWA conducted a Job Fair open to the public, bridging the gap between employers and job seekers:
  • Opportunities across IT, industrial, and service sectors
  • Resume building workshops and basic career counseling
  • Focus on women, youth, and economically underprivileged groups

Kabasura Kudineer Distribution During COVID-19

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, WEWA distributed Kabasura Kudineer — a traditional herbal drink known to boost immunity:
  • Free distribution across several localities during the pandemic and post-COVID phase
  • Promoted awareness about natural remedies and preventive care
  • Community volunteers assisted in daily distribution efforts

Training

WEWA offers a holistic suite of development programs including IT training, engineering graduate upskilling, academic scholarships, webinars, and entrepreneurial workshops—all designed to empower weaver communities and marginalized youth through enhanced skills, mentorship, and business-building opportunities.
WEWA has established in Tailoring & Embroidery in Chennai, running year‑round programs in skills like tailoring, terrace gardening, mushroom cultivation, and beauty services including bridal makeup and house keeping.
They also run mega entrepreneurship workshops (“Singa Pennae”) across multiple districts, featuring six skill-training sessions per event and stalls to market participants’ creations .

  • Beauty & wellness: Bridal makeup, salon services
  • Home & craft: Terrace gardening, mushroom cultivation, interior decoration
  • Cottage industries: Fashion designing, candle making, jute & handicraft production
  • Marketing & export capacity: E‑marketing, import‑export training, and vendor onboarding
  • Aari & hand embroidery – available via regional training centers
  • Palm-leaf crafts, simple household chemicals, napkin making, and banana-fibre products – included in entrepreneurship skill programs
  • Beauty parlour management, solar products, dress designing, Rexine/fabric bag making, cell‑phone servicing, set-top box repair – offered via Kanyakumari, Ariyalur, and similar hubs
  • Jam, squash, ice‑cream, pickles, masala‑powder making – included in home‑industry vocational programs
  • Herbal napkin/soap, millet products, panai‑olai (tapping toddy/palm) – featured in workshops held at Anna University events
  • DIY doll making, chocolate training, wire‑basket, cloth‑bag weaving, candle making, fashion jewelry & jute products – offered at mega conferences and monthly stalls
