Women Entrepreneurs Welfare Association of Tamil Nadu (WEWA) has been serving women for the past six years successfully.
The primary objective of WEWA is to broaden the Entrepreneurial base with the inclusive strategy of women in to Entrepreneurship. It is still a male dominant and hardly a few women succeed in running large corporate and other confine to small, tiny or micro enterprises.
Given the constraints that the women face in starting and sustaining in business or enterprise development, revealed in the researches undertaken in the Department of economics and Women’s Studies Bharathidasan University on women Entrepreneurship development and to address the structural, Financial, Psychological, Social and economic constraints faced by Women, an institutionalized approach to collectively work to promote women entrepreneurship was conceived as WEWA.
We initiated the association and we are rendering “hand holding” with the technical support “whenever needed leaving the management and administration to the Civil Society. WEWA has office bearers to look after the activities and work on the objectives for which it has been instituted. Empowering “Women through Entrepreneurship ” has been the broader objectives in which it applies a very flexible strategy suiting to the needs of the women who approach for support. It is a people’s organization in which any person from any background, region can approach and WEWA extends support irrespective of age, education, region whether rural or urban particularly focusing on extremely vulnerable group deserted, destitute and women from economically backward regions who are desperate to have some income earning sources. The women who so far availed the services for the past five years also belong to destitute categories including widows, Separated and deserted by husbands, physically challenged, Women without male earnings, Women in slums, home makers illiterate or less educated, SHG women and others.
The execute committee headed by Ms.Krishna Radhakrishnan, a leading and successful Entrepreneur who has been very much with women who are committed to serve the community as other office bearers and regular and entrenched, support of the Networking Organization including District Administration. MSME – DI , BHEL , NIT , DIC, NABARD, KVIC, TIIC, SIDCO,EDI,NSIC,Coir Board Nationalized Bank like State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Bank of India, District Welfare Committee Various NGO’s and other numerous supporters really helped WEWA to serve the people with free or subsidized training.
